Client
Pearson Education

Project type
Web, Android, iOS

Project date
Began December 2020
Launched August 2021

Your role
I served as the primary product design lead for the Pearson+ project, overseeing all stages from concept to launch; collaborating closely with our product, engineering, and business partners. My main responsibilities included managing creative direction and processes, providing art direction and feedback, and the development of a flexible design framework.

Project Summary
Pearson aimed to develop a direct-to-consumer app for higher education students, in response to their need for affordable and dependable educational resources. In partnership with the mobile application, the eCommerce marketing and support site was created to allow access to purchase, seek assistance and login to the Pearson+ learning hub from the web.

The challenge

  • Students consistently express frustration with the high cost of up-to-date educational materials that are easily accessible and user-friendly.

  • As opposed to previous institution-based products, we needed to develop a direct-to-consumer learning product for Pearson – unlike anything seen before at the company.

  • We had to take into account the existing technological limitations and approach the project with an innovative mindset.

The Solution

  • Assess present data, current insights, and student needs

  • Collaborate with product and marketing partners to establish business viability and desirability.

  • Conduct an audit of current product and content for accessibility, legal compliance, and copy.

  • Thoroughly analyze the competitive landscape.

  • Conduct interviews, engage stakeholders, and keep them informed.

  • Create documentation for key flows and develop wireframes.

  • Conduct user testing interviews, surveys, and focus groups.

  • Create prototypes and deliver scalable and consistent design artifacts.

  • Conduct User Acceptance Testing and refine as needed.

  • Iterate and rediscover as necessary.

  • Assess areas and opportunities for growth.
